The engineer who designs a client's platform is the engineer who builds it, operates it, and teaches the client's team to run it. You follow the same five steps on every engagement.

A scoped workshop or assessment defines the use cases, current state, and success criteria.
YouYou lead the workshop and write down the success criteria. - 02Design
An architecture blueprint with documented decisions, reviewed with the client's architecture and security teams.
YouYou own the design decisions and record the reasoning for each one. - 03Build
The platform is deployed and configured as code, tested, and documented in runbooks.
YouYou write the automation and the runbooks. - 04Operate
Forward Deployed Engineers run the platform and onboard new use cases.
YouYou run the test cycles and after-action reviews, and you improve the automation after each one. - 05Transfer
Structured knowledge transfer moves operational ownership to the client's team.
YouYou teach the client's team to run what you built.
Operation includes monthly service reviews, quarterly governance reviews, and an after-action review after every test cycle. Each review feeds the next round of runbook and automation changes.

What does a Forward Deployed Engineer do?
A Forward Deployed Engineer works inside a client's environment and stays with a platform from design to handover. The engineer designs the platform, writes the automation, runs it with the client's team, holds service and after-action reviews, and then transfers operation to the client's team.
